High Ground, Fast Growth
Tree Service in Dallas has a different feel than in the older Cobb suburbs. Dallas sits at about 1,043 feet, one of the highest suburban cities in metro Atlanta, and Elsberry Mountain reaches 1,310 feet. Its population has grown from 2,810 in 1990 to 14,042 in 2020, with an estimate of 15,402 in 2025. Many homes went up on land that was pine woods or pasture a generation ago. Elite Tree Service Marietta works on those lots in Dallas: thinning pines that were left too close to new houses, taking down storm-snapped trees and grinding stumps so yards can be finished.
The pines left behind
When a subdivision is cut from a pine stand, the trees left between houses lose the neighbors that sheltered them from wind. Tall loblolly pines with small crowns are then exposed. They bend in summer storms and can snap mid-trunk in ice. Stressed pines also attract bark beetles. The Georgia Forestry Commission notes that southern pine beetle can kill large numbers of healthy trees over many acres in a short time, and that Ips engravers and black turpentine beetle go after stressed trees. Brown boring dust at the base, resin pitch tubes on the bark and green needles on the ground are signs to call about.
Battlefield ground
The Battle of Dallas was fought near downtown in May 1864. The Battles of New Hope Church and Pickett's Mill were fought the same week, and original trenches survive at both sites. If your property borders a historic site or public land, we keep all work on your side of the line.
Creeks to the Etowah
Pumpkinvine Creek, the largest stream in the city, flows north to the Etowah River. No major river runs through Dallas, but the hollows along Pumpkinvine and its branches stay wet. Trees in those low spots grow quickly and shallow-rooted, which makes them likelier to tip when the soil is soaked. The Pumpkinvine Creek trestle on the Silver Comet Trail, restored and reopened in 1999, crosses one of those hollows.

Dallas Questions
The builder left tall pines between my house and the neighbor's. Should they come out?
Not always, but pines that were in a dense stand and are now exposed are at higher risk in wind and ice. We look at their height, lean, crown size and distance to the house, and tell you which ones are reasonable to keep.
Who supplies power to my house in Dallas?
Parts of Paulding County are on GreyStone Power and parts are on Cobb EMC. Check your bill. Call that utility about any tree touching a line.
Can you take down several trees in one day on a big lot?
Usually yes. On open lots we can often fell trees whole into the yard, which is faster than sectional work. The estimate will say how many days the job should take.
Is it worth grinding stumps on a wooded lot?
In a lawn or garden bed, yes. In woods you're leaving natural, a low-cut stump can just rot in place. We'll price both options.
How do I know if bark beetles are in my pines?
Look for small white or yellow resin blobs (pitch tubes) on the bark, reddish-brown boring dust in bark crevices and at the base, and green needles dropping in summer. A pine that turns from green to straw-colored to red in a few weeks is usually past saving, and the trees closest to it should be checked.
