Big Woods, Small Town
Emerson is small, with 1,415 people at the 2020 census on more than 7 square miles, so Tree Service here usually means wooded lots rather than tight subdivision yards. The city sits in far southern Bartow County along US-41 and I-75 and is the gateway to Red Top Mountain State Park, which fills a peninsula in Lake Allatoona. Elite Tree Service Marietta works on homes, small farms and wooded properties in and around Emerson, from removing one dead pine to clearing storm damage across an acre.
From Stegall's Station to a city
Emerson was once called Stegall's Station and was incorporated on January 1, 1889. It was named for Joseph Emerson Brown, Georgia's governor during the Civil War. The railroad and highway corridor still run through the middle of town, and most homes sit on larger lots back from those roads.
What wooded lots need
Owners of wooded land usually call about one of three things:
- Dead and dying trees near the house, driveway or outbuildings. These come first. A dead pine or oak within striking distance of a roof, a well house or the only driveway is a priority, even if the rest of the woods is fine.
- Storm damage. Hangers (broken limbs caught in the crown), split trunks and uprooted trees tangled together are some of the most dangerous work in tree care. Don't cut under a hanger yourself.
- Opening up space. Thinning out crowded, spindly trees near the house lets light in and lowers wind risk for the trees that remain.
We also clear trees along fence lines and drives, and grind stumps where you want lawn.
Wind off the lake and Red Top Mountain
Lake Allatoona covers about 12,010 acres, and Red Top Mountain State Park covers about 1,776 acres beside it. Its name comes from the iron-rich mountain. Wind crossing that much open water hits the lakeside woods hard, and pines at the edge of a clearing often break first. If your property borders the park or the Corps of Engineers shoreline, trees on that land aren't yours to cut. We'll stay on your side.
Pines, hardwoods and what's worth keeping
Wooded lots in this part of Bartow often mix loblolly and shortleaf pine with oaks, hickories, sweetgums and tulip poplars. When we walk a wooded property, we sort the trees into three groups: the ones that are healthy and well placed, the ones that are sound but crowding better trees, and the ones that are dead, cracked or leaning toward something you care about. The first group stays. The last group is the priority. The middle group is up to you, based on budget, sunlight and how much open space you want. Removing a few crowded trees often helps the remaining ones grow stronger crowns and deeper roots.

Emerson Questions
Can you clear storm damage across several acres?
Yes. We start with whatever threatens the house, driveway and power, then work outward. The estimate can be split so you can approve the urgent part first.
There's a broken limb hung up in the top of a tree over my driveway. Can I pull it down?
Please don't. Hung limbs can drop without warning, and pulling on them from below is how people get hurt. Keep cars and people out from under it and call us.
Do you leave the wood for firewood?
If you'd like. We can cut it to stove length and stack it, and chip or haul the brush. Tell us when we come out, and it'll be on the estimate.
Will removing some trees make the rest blow over?
Taking out too many at once can expose trees that grew up sheltered, so we thin gradually and keep groups of trees together where wind is an issue. We'll explain which trees to remove now and which to leave.
