Villa Rica Tree Work, Start to Finish

Tree Service in Villa Rica has to account for one city rule: crews removing trees take the debris with them. Villa Rica's curbside service lists materials removed by contractors among the things it won't collect, along with stumps and whole trees. Elite Tree Service Marietta prices Villa Rica jobs with full cleanup included, from the first cut to the last rake of chips, and we put that in writing before we start.

Curbside basics for homeowners

For your own yard work, the city collects limbs smaller than 10 inches in diameter, bagged clippings and leaves, and other plant material from your property. It won't collect stumps, trees, rocks, dirt or material brought from somewhere else. Utility customers pay a monthly curbside fee, and extra charges may apply. The city's route maps and pickup calendars show your collection day.

A city on a ridge

Villa Rica sits on a ridgeline that divides the Chattahoochee and Tallapoosa river basins, at about 1,138 feet. Ridge-top yards catch the full force of summer thunderstorms, and soils on the crest dry out faster in drought than soils in the valleys. Pines stressed by dry summers attract bark beetles. Hardwoods on the ridge often show dieback at the top first. Lower lots that drain toward either basin stay wetter and have different problems. The city's record temperatures run from 103°F (1980) to minus 9°F (1985), and both extremes show up in tree stress.

Gold country

Settlers arrived in 1826 at a place called Hixtown and found gold soon after. By 1832 there were more than 2,000 residents and at least 19 active mines. Most of the gold was gone by 1860. The Stockmar Gold Mine is preserved as Pine Mountain Gold Museum at Stockmar Park, listed on the National Register in 2008. Land with a mining past can hide old pits, so when we work on wooded lots around town, we walk the ground before bringing in equipment, and we'd rather find a hidden hole on foot than with a truck wheel.

Two counties, one city

Slightly more than half of Villa Rica is in Carroll County and the rest in Douglas County, and some unincorporated Paulding County addresses also use Villa Rica as their mailing city. The county line matters for permits, for which electric utility serves you and for emerald ash borer records. The Georgia Forestry Commission lists the ash borer in Carroll County since 2014 and in Douglas County since 2015. Tell us your address when you call so we know which rules apply.

Growth

The city's population went from 4,134 in 2000 to 16,970 in 2020, with an estimated 21,022 in 2025. Census QuickFacts lists 3.03 people per household and a 65.2% owner-occupied rate. New homes on old woods and farm ground keep us busy with edge trees and stump grinding.

Pine Tree Removal in Marietta, GA

Villa Rica Questions

Will Villa Rica pick up the wood after a tree company cuts my tree?

No. The city doesn't collect material removed by contractors, or stumps and whole trees. Our estimates include hauling the wood away unless you'd rather keep it.

I live on the Carroll County side. Does that change anything?

It can affect which county office handles permits and which utility serves you. Tell us your address, and check with the city or county before a large removal.

Can you grind stumps on a lot where there might be old mine workings?

We walk the area first and probe any soft or sunken spots before moving equipment in. If something looks like an old pit, we'll mark it and work around it.

Should I worry about pines on the ridge after a dry summer?

Drought-stressed pines are more likely to be attacked by bark beetles, so check them in late summer and fall. Watch for resin spots on the bark, boring dust at the base and needles fading from the top down. If one tree is infested, its neighbors are at risk too.
